اللَّهُمَّ أَجِرْنِي مِنْ حَرِّ جَهَنَّمَ
O Allah, save me from the heat of Hell.
Allahumma ajirni min harr Jahannam
When to Read
This dua is particularly relevant during intense heat, reminding us of a greater heat and seeking Allah's protection from it. It's a powerful reminder during summer or any excessively hot weather, to turn to our Creator.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and contemplation, especially when you feel overwhelmed by the heat. Visualize the heat of Jahannam and feel your reliance on Allah for protection.
Virtues & Benefits
This simple yet profound supplication connects the physical discomfort of worldly heat to the intense, eternal heat of Jahannam. By asking Allah to save us from the latter, we are acknowledging His power over both and seeking ultimate refuge in Him. The hadith context highlights that the Fire of Hell has complained to Allah about its heat, and He has allowed it two breaths – one in winter and one in summer. Thus, asking for protection from its heat is a direct appeal to the One who controls it all.
Source & Authentication
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'The Fire of Hell complained to its Lord, saying: 'O my Lord, some parts of me have consumed others.' So it was allowed to take two breaths, one in winter and one in summer. So the intense heat you feel in summer is from the intense heat of Hell, and the intense cold you feel in winter is from the intense cold of Hell.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 5073). This hadith is graded Sahih by Al-Albani.
