Virtues & Benefits
This dua, particularly the phrase 'Subhanallahi wa bihamdihi', is a comprehensive remembrance of Allah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that whoever says this one hundred times a day, their sins will be forgiven even if they are as abundant as the foam of the sea (Sahih al-Bukhari 6405). When coupled with the request for Allah's bounty, it's a powerful expression of dependence on Him and hope for His generosity, inspired by the magnificent signs of His creation.

Abu Dharr reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'I have been given knowledge of the tongues of the people and the means of their sustenance, and I have been granted the command of the Book. And the gates of the heavens were opened for me at the time of sunset, and they were sealed for me at the time of sunrise. This is because the gates of the heavens are opened, and the gates of Hell are closed, and the demons are driven away, and the supplicants' supplications are answered. And the gates of the heavens are closed, and the gates of Hell are opened, and the devils are driven away, and the supplicants' supplications are not answered. And the Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'Seek sustenance from Allah during the two times of prayer, for indeed, Allah says: 'Verily, the prayer is enjoined on the believers at fixed hours' (Surah An-Nisa 4:103). And when the sun rises, seek sustenance from your Lord, for it is the time of His generosity and His bestowal, and it is the time of the appearance of His Command and His Decree, and it is the time of His forgiveness for those who repent. And when the sun sets, seek sustenance from your Lord, for it is the time of His generosity and His bestowal, and it is the time of the appearance of His Command and His Decree, and it is the time of His forgiveness for those who repent.' He said: 'This is the dua that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to make when the sun set: 'I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan.' And when the sun rose, he said: 'O Allah, grant me beneficial knowledge, and pure sustenance, and accepted deeds.'
