Virtues & Benefits
This dua is mentioned in the context of the seven categories of people whom Allah will shade under His Throne on the Day of Judgment. While this specific phrasing is attributed to one of those individuals (a man who gave charity so secretly that his left hand did not know what his right hand spent), the sentiment of seeking Allah's shade on that Day is a universal aspiration. It fosters a deep reliance on Allah (Tawakkul) and reminds us of the ultimate accountability we will face, encouraging good deeds.
Source & Authentication
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'Seven (types of people) will be shaded by Allah under His Throne on the Day when there will be no shade but His: The just ruler; a youth who grew up in the worship of Allah; a man whose heart is attached to the mosques; two men who love each other for Allah's sake, they meet and part upon that; a man who is called by a beautiful woman of noble rank and he refrains saying, 'I fear Allah'; a man who gives charity and hides it so much that his left hand does not know what his right hand spends; and a person who remembers Allah alone in seclusion and his eyes are flooded with tears.'
