اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهَا، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا

Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates a comprehensive request for protection. By asking for the 'goodness' of the storm, we acknowledge that even what appears destructive might hold wisdom or a purpose from Allah that we may not understand. Simultaneously, seeking refuge from its 'evil' is a direct plea for safety from any harm it may bring. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us such concise yet powerful supplications, showing us how to turn to our Creator in all circumstances, big or small.
Source & Authentication
‘Aa’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: When the wind blew strongly, the Prophet (ﷺ) would say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka khayraha, wa a'udhu bika min sharriha' (O Allah, I ask You for its goodness, and I seek refuge in You from its evil). And when the sky was overcast with clouds, he would look worried until he went in and out, and if it rained, he would be pleased. ‘Aa’ishah said: I asked him: 'People see the cloud and hope for rain, but when they see the wind, they fear evil.' He said: 'I do not fear it, but I fear evil of it.' (Sahih Muslim 899)
