Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri: When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wore a new garment, he would mention its name, whether it was a shirt or a turban, and then say: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي مَا أُوَارِي بِهِ عَوْرَتِي وَأَتَجَمَّلُ بِهِ فِي حَيَاتِي. (Al-hamdulillah alladhi kasani ma uwari bihi 'awrati wa atajammalu bihi fi hayati.) 'Praise be to Allah, who clothed me with what covers my private parts and adorns me in my life.' Then he would say: أَبْذُلُهُ لِمَنْ بَعْدِي. (Abdhuluhu liman ba'di.) 'I shall give it as a gift to whoever comes after me.' Then he would say: اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ كَمَا أَحْلَلْتَنِيهِ. (Allahumma laka al-hamdu kama ahaltanihi.) 'O Allah, to You is the praise, as You have given it to me.' (This hadith is known by different wordings and is classified as Hasan).
