الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي هَذَا الثَّوْبَ وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ
All praise is due to Allah Who has clothed me with this [garment] and provided it for me without any strength or power from myself.
Alhamdulillahilladhi kasani hadha-th-thawba wa razaqanihi min ghayri hawlin minni wa la quwwah
When to Read
This dua is recited when you wear any new clothing, whether it's for everyday wear, a specific occasion, travel, or even worship. It's a beautiful way to acknowledge Allah's blessing upon receiving a new garment. The key is the 'newness' of the clothing, signifying a new provision or covering from the Creator.
How to Read
It's best recited immediately after putting on the new garment. Stand, or sit comfortably, and reflect on Allah's grace. The phrasing emphasizes gratitude and humility, so a mindful recitation is more impactful than a rushed one. Some scholars mention that you can also extend this gratitude by giving away an old garment once you wear a new one, as a sign of true reliance on Allah.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication embodies immense gratitude to Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala). It reminds us that every blessing, including the clothes we wear, is from Him and not from our own might or ability. This fosters humility and prevents arrogance. By acknowledging His provision, we strengthen our connection with Allah, seeking His continued blessings and protection. It's a simple yet profound way to start wearing something new with Allah's remembrance, setting a positive spiritual tone for its use.

Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri: When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to wear a new garment, he would mention its name (e.g. a shirt or a turban) and say: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي هَذَا الثَّوْبَ وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ. (All praise is due to Allah Who has clothed me with this [garment] and provided it for me without any strength or power from myself.) – Sahih Muslim 2074, also reported with slight variation in wording in Sahih al-Bukhari 6137.
