الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي هَذَا الثَّوْبَ وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ
All praise is for Allah, Who clothed me with this garment and provided it for me without any strength or power from myself.

Virtues & Benefits
Wearing new clothes is a blessing from Allah. This dua helps us acknowledge that blessings come from Him alone, not our own might. It also implicitly protects us from the negative effects of envy and the evil eye (hasad and 'ayn). When we attribute the blessing to Allah, we humble ourselves, and this humility is a shield. Envy stems from seeing blessings and wishing them away from others; by thanking the Giver, we neutralize that potential harm. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this dua to cultivate gratitude and protection.

Narrated Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him): When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ wore a new garment, he would mention its name (like a shirt or a cloak) and say: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَفَانِي وَآوَانِي وَأَقْوَمَنِي مِمَّنْ يُكَافِئُهُ. Then, when he wore a garment, he would say: 'All praise is due to Allah, Who has sufficed me and provided for me and given me shelter, and Who has favored me over many of His creation.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 4023). Another narration from Sahl ibn Mu'adh from his father: The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: Whoever wears a new garment and says: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي هَذَا الثَّوْبَ وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ, then all his previous sins are forgiven. (Sunan At-Tirmidhi 1771, Sunan Abi Dawud 4023)
