الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي هَذَا الثَّوْبَ وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ
All praise is due to Allah Who has clothed me with this garment and provided it for me without any strength or power on my part.
Alhamdulillah alladhi kasani hadha ath-thawba wa razaqanihi min ghayri hawlin minni wa la quwwatin.
When to Read
This beautiful dua is recited when putting on any new garment, be it a shirt, trousers, a scarf, or any other item of clothing. It's a moment to express gratitude not just for the clothing itself, but for the ability to wear it, acknowledging that all provisions come from Allah.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a heart full of gratitude as you put on your new or favorite clothing. It's often said when the garment is fully on, perhaps after the first piece is worn. The key is the intention to thank Allah for His blessing. Consider the simplicity and elegance of the Prophet's ﷺ way of dressing and how this dua reflects that humility.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua teaches us profound humility and gratitude. By acknowledging that Allah provided the means to acquire and wear the clothing, without any personal strength or effort on our end, we root our appreciation in the true Source of all blessings. It's a powerful reminder that even the simplest things, like clothes to cover our 'awrah and protect us from the elements, are immense favors from our Creator. Emulating the Prophet's ﷺ practice in saying this connects us to his beautiful Sunnah and fosters a spirit of thankfulness that can permeate all aspects of our lives.
