Wearing Clothes
Hasan HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 1767

All praise is due to Allah who has clothed me with this garment and provided it for me without any might or power from myself.

This beautiful dua is recited when you put on new clothes, or even when you put on any garment that brings you comfort, whether it's ordinary or for a special occasion. It's a moment to acknowledge Allah's blessing, especially when facing discomfort or adversity, as the act of wearing suitable clothes can alleviate hardship.

Recite this sincerely after covering your body with clothing. It's a personal moment of reflection and gratitude. The key is to feel the meaning of the words, recognizing that every provision, including the clothes that protect and comfort us, comes directly from Allah.

Virtues & Benefits

Reciting this dua is a profound act of acknowledging Allah's blessings. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this to remind us that all provision comes from Allah, not from our own strength. It fosters humility and gratitude, protecting us from arrogance. It also signifies our dependence on Allah, seeking His continuous favour and protection, especially when clothes provide comfort against hardship or when we are in need.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Abu Sa'id al-Khudri: When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to wear a new garment, he would mention its name (like a shirt or a turban) and then say: (Translation: All praise is due to Allah who has clothed me with this and provided it for me without any might or power from myself.) Sunan Abu Dawud 4023.
