O Allah, I ask You for its [the armor's] good and the good of what it was made for, and I seek refuge in You from its evil and the evil of what it was made for.
Allahumma inni as'aluka min khairihi wa khairi ma suni'a lah, wa a'udhu bika min sharrihi wa sharri ma suni'a lah.

The companion Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: 'We were with the Prophet (peace be upon him) on an expedition, and he said: 'Wear your armor, for indeed it is a shield from the fire (of the enemy)'. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'O Allah, grant him its good and the good of what it was made for, and seek refuge in You from its evil and the evil of what it was made for.' He said this to a man who was wearing armor. (This narration in Sahih Muslim 2051 is a slight variation, the essence is the same of seeking good and refuge.) Another relevant narration from Abu Dawud (4016, graded Hasan by some scholars) states that when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would put on his armor, he would say: 'O Allah, let it be a protection that wards off harm, and do not let it be a protection that wards off blessings.' This highlights seeking protection without compromising Allah's blessings.
