Narrated Hudhaifah: Whenever the Prophet (peace be upon him) got up for night prayer, he would say: 'Allah is the Greatest! Glory be to Allah. Praise be to Allah! There is no god but Allah! Allah is the Greatest! And there is no power nor might except with Allah!' Then he would say: 'O Allah! Forgive me' or he would say: 'May I be forgiven'. Then he would say: 'Glory be to You, O Lord, and praise be to You. I have committed a wrong against myself. So forgive me.' Then he would say: 'O Allah, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth, Lord of the Throne, our Lord and the Lord of everything, He Who Splits the grain of wheat and the seed-kernel, He Who revealed the Torah and the Gospel and the Quran. I seek refuge in You from the evil of every evil-doer whom You seize by the forelock. You are the First and there is none before You; You are the Last and there is none after You; You are the apparent and there is none above You; You are the hidden and there is none nearer than You. Settle my debt and enrich me from poverty.' And when he woke up from sleep and said: 'All praise is due to Allah, who brought us back to life after causing us to die, and to Him is the resurrection.'
