Virtues & Benefits

Seeking knowledge, especially religious knowledge like Fiqh, is a highly encouraged act in Islam. This dua specifically asks Allah to grant understanding (ta'lim) and purification (tazkiyah) through jurisprudence. This means not just memorizing rulings, but understanding the wisdom behind them, developing sound judgment, and applying it in a way that purifies the self and pleases Allah. Fiqh helps us navigate life's complexities according to divine guidance, leading to a more meaningful and righteous existence.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'O Allah, teach me jurisprudence and purify me with it.' (Reported by Al-Tabarani in Al-Mu'jam al-Awsat). While this specific wording is found in Al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and graded as Hasan, the general encouragement to seek knowledge and understanding of the religion is abundant in the Quran and Sunnah. For instance, Allah says: 'And say, 'My Lord, increase me in knowledge.' (Taha 20:114).
