Narrated Hudhaifah: Whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) got up for the night (to offer his prayers), he would say: 'Allah is the Greatest. Glory be to Allah. I praise Allah. May Allah preserve me from Your punishment on the Day You send Your slaves back to life.' He would also say: 'There is no god but Allah.' three times. He would say: 'I seek refuge in Allah the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing from the cursed Satan.' He would then recite the last three verses of Surah Al-Imran (3:190-194). If he wanted to perform the Witr prayer, he would perform it after offering two rak'ahs, and then lie down on his right side until the call for the morning prayer came. In another narration, it is mentioned: Whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) woke up from sleep, he would say: 'All praise is for Allah Who gave us life after death, and to Him is the Resurrection.'
