The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever wakes up and says: Al-hamdulillahilladhi ahyana ba'da ma amatana wa ilaihi an-nushoor (All praise is for Allah Who revived us after He caused us to die, and to Him is the resurrection), it is an expiation for whatever has happened to him (i.e., whatever sins he committed during that night).'
