Narrated Hudhaifa: Whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) woke up at night, he would recite: 'La ilaha illallah, Al-A'la Al-Quddus. La ilaha illallahu Rabbus-samawati wa Rabbul-ardi wa Rabbul-'Arshil-majeed. La ilaha illallahu, La ilaha illallah.' And when he went to sleep, he would say: 'Allahumma, Aslamtu Wajhi ilaika, wa fawwadtu Amri ilaika, wa alja'tu Zahri ilaika, raghbatan wa rahbatan ilaika. La Malja'a wa la Manja minka illa ilaika. Allahumma, amantu bikitabika-lladhi anzalta wa binabiyyika-lladhi arsalta.' (O Allah! I have submitted myself to You, entrusted my affairs to You, and turned my face towards You for the sake of You, and relied on You with hope and fear of You. There is no refuge and no safety from You except in You (too). O Allah! I believed in Your Book which You revealed and in Your Prophet (Muhammad) whom You sent.) If he died that night, he would die in the `Fitra` (natural disposition of Islam). Let these be the last words he would utter. And if he woke up and said, 'Allahumma, I believe in Your Book,' then he should not argue about it (the Quran) with the exception of fulfilling his need for it.
