اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِفُلاَنٍ (بِاسْمِ المَيِّتِ) وَارْفَعْ دَرَجَتَهُ فِي المَهْدِيِّينَ، وَاخْلُفْهُ فِي عَقِبِهِ فِي الغَابِرِينَ، وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلَهُ يَا رَبَّ العَالَمِينَ، وَافْسَحْ لَهُ فِي قَبْرِهِ وَنَوِّرْ لَهُ فِيهِ
O Allah, forgive [Name of the deceased] and raise his station among those who are guided. And leave behind him descendants who will pray for him. And forgive us and him, O Lord of the worlds. And expand his grave and illuminate it for him.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that when the funeral bier of a man passed by the Prophet ﷺ, he said: 'Relieve [the deceased] or be relieved of him.' When the funeral bier of a woman passed by him, he said: 'Relieve her or be relieved of her.' The people said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you said about the men: "Relieve him or be relieved of him," but you said about the women: "Relieve her or be relieved of her."' He said: 'Indeed, the believer, when he dies, is relieved of the hardships of this world and is sent to the mercy of Allah. And for the wicked disbeliever, he is relieved of by whom the people, the land, the trees, and the animals are relieved.' Then he supplicated: 'Allahumma-ghfir li rijali-na wa nisa'i-na wa shuhada'i-na wa sabirina wa li man qala hadha, du'a'an minal-qur'an: 'Allahumma-ghfir li fulan (ism al-mayyit) warfa' darajatahu fil-mahdiyyin, wakhlufhu fi 'aqibihi fil-ghabirin, waghfir lana wa lahu ya Rabb al-'alamin, wafsah lahu fi qabrihi wa nawwir lahu fih' - 'O Allah, forgive our men and our women, our martyrs and our patient ones, and whoever says this, a supplication from the Qur'an: 'O Allah, forgive [Name of the deceased] and raise his station among those who are guided. And leave behind him descendants who will pray for him. And forgive us and him, O Lord of the worlds. And expand his grave and illuminate it for him.'
