When Your Own Strength Fails: Dua for Trusting Allah's Power

Trust in Allah
Hasan HadithMusnad Ahmad 6902

O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is inevitable. Your judgment concerning me is just. I ask You by every Name that You have called Yourself, or revealed to any of Your creation, or sent down in Your Book, or have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the remover of my anxieties.

Allahumma inni 'abduka, ibnu 'abdika, ibnu amatik, nasiyati biyadika, madin fiyya hukkamuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw anzaltahu fi kitabika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilmil-ghaybi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi.

It’s best recited with a humble and hopeful heart.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a direct plea to Allah using His most cherished Names. It acknowledges our utter dependence on Him, recognizing that all power and control ultimately reside with Him. By asking for the Qur'an to be the 'springtime of the heart,' it signifies seeking solace, guidance, and renewal through Allah's divine word, which is a source of immense strength and tranquility. It addresses both emotional distress (sadness, anxiety) and spiritual dryness, seeking a holistic restoration through Allah's power and guidance.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught this comprehensive dua to 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) when she asked him what to say when she felt grief or distress. He told her to learn and recite this specific supplication, highlighting its power to alleviate worries and bring comfort by seeking refuge in Allah and His perfect Names.
