When Opposition Mounts: Dua for Trusting Allah's Aid

Trust in Allah
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 4563

حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ

Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.

Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel

When to Read

Recite this powerful declaration when you face overwhelming opposition, be it from people, circumstances, or your own inner struggles. It's a shield when your back is against the wall and you feel outnumbered or misunderstood. Think of the Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) when he was thrown into the fire, or the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during the Battle of the Trench. This dua is your refuge when all other means seem to fail.

How to Read

Say this with absolute conviction, believing in its power. It’s not just words; it’s an act of profound reliance on Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala). Utter it with a sincere heart, focusing on the meaning and the immensity of Allah's power and care. Let it be the last thought before you act, and the first thought when you feel doubt creeping in.

Virtues & Benefits

This statement, uttered by Ibrahim (peace be upon him) when he was cast into the fire and by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions when people said, 'Verily the people have gathered against you, so fear them,' is declared by Allah to be 'fire for them' (i.e., sufficient against them). Sahih al-Bukhari 4563. It signifies a complete handover of your affairs to Allah, knowing He is the ultimate protector and planner. When you say 'Hasbunallah wa ni'mal wakeel,' you're essentially declaring that your trust is solely in Allah, and He alone is enough to overcome any challenge.

Source & Authentication

Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said: 'Allah has taken Ibrahim (peace be upon him) as an intimate friend. And I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) saying: 'When they (people) said: 'Verily the people have gathered against you, so fear them,' it increased them only in faith and they said: 'Allah is sufficient for us and He is the best Disposer of affairs.'
