O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective. Your judgment upon me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You, which You have named Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or have kept secret in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the delight of my heart, and the light of my chest, and a banisher of my grief, and a reliever of my anxiety.
Allahumma inni 'abdunka, ibn 'abdika, ibn ammatika, nasiyatii biyadika, madin fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka, sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw anzaltahu fi kitābika, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilmil-ghaybi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabī'a qalbi, wa nūra sadri, wa jalā'a huzni, wa dhahāba hammi.

How to Read
Begin with sincerity and a humble heart. Acknowledge your complete reliance on Allah (implied by 'nasitatii biyadika' - my forelock is in Your hand). Utter the words with conviction, reflecting on each of the beautiful names and attributes of Allah you are invoking. Make the request that the Qur'an becomes your solace and guidance. It is best recited after obligatory prayers or during moments of personal reflection and supplication.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself, is a profound tool for managing distress and finding peace. By calling upon Allah with His perfect names and attributes, and asking for the Qur'an to be a source of comfort, it directly addresses the roots of despair and anxiety. It reminds us that Allah is in control, His judgment is just, and He has complete knowledge. Making the Qur'an the 'delight of the heart' and 'light of the chest' is a sure way to dispel darkness and find clarity.

Ahmad narrated from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'No person is afflicted by anxiety or grief, and then says: O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. -- except that Allah will remove his anxiety and grief, and replace them with the same in its stead.' I.e., Allah will replace his sadness with happiness.
