Entrusting Your Debts to Allah for Resolution

Trust in Allah
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 4427

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief. I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness. I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess. I seek refuge in You from the overwhelming of debt and the subjugation of men.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazani, wa a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wa a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal-bukhli, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabatid-dayni wa qahrir-rijali.

When to Read

This powerful supplication is best recited during times of distress, particularly when facing financial hardship and the burden of debt. Make it a habit to say it after your obligatory prayers, or whenever you feel the weight of your financial obligations pressing down. It's a way to actively involve Allah (SWT) in your struggle, acknowledging that true relief comes from Him alone.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a firm belief in Allah's (SWT) ability to alleviate your burdens. Focus on the meaning of each phrase as you utter it. It's recommended to raise your hands slightly, as is the custom during supplication, and to maintain a state of purity (wudu) if possible. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to make sincere dua, so pour your heart out to your Creator.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself, is a comprehensive shield against deep-seated anxieties and crippling circumstances. By seeking refuge in Allah from 'ghalabatid-dayn' (the overwhelming of debt), you are not just asking for financial relief, but for Allah to grant you the means and the strength to manage and overcome your debts. Seeking refuge from 'qahrir-rijal' (the subjugation of men) is a protection against being humiliated or exploited by others due to your financial situation. This supplication empowers you to face your challenges with faith, knowing Allah is your ultimate support.
