Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel
When to Read
This powerful declaration is to be recited during times of intense difficulty, overwhelming challenges, and sudden calamities. When faced with events that shake our foundations, disrupt our lives, or cause immense worry, this dua becomes our anchor.
How to Read
Recite this phrase with sincere conviction in your heart, acknowledging Allah's absolute power and His perfect plan. Utter it with a voice that reflects your reliance on Him, placing all your trust and affairs in His hands. It's meant to be said when you feel utterly dependent on Allah, having exhausted all other means.
Virtues & Benefits
When Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was thrown into the fire, he uttered this statement, and Allah commanded the fire to 'be coolness and safety' for him (Al-Anbiya 21:69). Similarly, when the companions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ were told that a great army had gathered against them, they responded with this dua, and Allah sent down His favor, making them victorious (Al 'Imran 3:173). It signifies complete submission and reliance, invoking Allah's direct intervention and protection.
Source & Authentication
Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: 'Allah is sufficient for us and He is the best Disposer of affairs.' Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said it when he was thrown into the fire, and Muhammad ﷺ said it when they said: 'Verily, the people have gathered against you, so fear them.' But it increased them in faith, and they said: 'Allah is sufficient for us and He is the best Disposer of affairs.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 4563)
