The compiler of Sahih al-Bukhari, Imam Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him), narrated: 'And when they (i.e., the hypocrites and the people of Makkah) said, 'Allah has heard the speech of Muhammad,' and it was said to them, 'Verily, there are gathered against you all the people of Makkah (so fear them);' then it increased them only in faith, and they said: 'Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel.' And Allah brought them back to their homes, filled with the favour and the wrath of Allah. And they followed not the wrath of Allah, but they followed the pleasure of Allah. And Allah is the Owner of Great Bounty.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 425). This hadith describes a moment where the Muslims were threatened by a large army, and instead of despairing, they declared their trust in Allah, which led to their protection.
