Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 425

حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ

Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.

Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel

When to Read

This powerful statement is particularly potent when you feel overwhelmed by uncertainty. It's perfect for those moments when the future seems daunting, and you don't know what lies ahead. Recite it when you're facing a new challenge, a difficult decision, or any situation where the outcome is unknown and causes you anxiety. It's a shield against worry, a reminder that you don't face these uncertainties alone.

How to Read

Utter this phrase with complete conviction in your heart. It’s not just a set of words, but a declaration of your absolute reliance on Allah. Imagine yourself speaking directly to Him, entrusting every single aspect of your situation into His capable hands. Repeat it multiple times, letting the meaning sink into your being, allowing the peace of certainty in Allah's sufficiency to wash over you.

Virtues & Benefits

This declaration, famously uttered by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) when thrown into the fire, and echoed by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his companions during times of great trial, signifies the highest level of Tawakkul (trust in Allah). When you say 'Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel' with sincerity, you are activating Allah's divine support. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'The people of Yemen came (as envoys). They were the first to introduce the use of 'la' (i.e., 'la ilaha ill-Allah'). And it was in Yemen that 'Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel' was first said by Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) when he was thrown into the fire, and it was said by me (Muhammad ﷺ) when I heard that the people of Mecca had gathered against me (in order to fight me). Sahih al-Bukhari 425.' This indicates that this statement is a source of immense strength and protection against overwhelming opposition and fear.
