Dua for Trusting Allah's Strength and Guidance in Financial Crisis

Trust in Allah
Hasan HadithMusnad Ahmad 391

O Allah, indeed I am Your slave, son of Your slave, son of Your female slave. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective. Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed to anyone from Your creation, or taught to anyone from Your knowledge, or sent down in Your Book, or kept exclusively to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen, that You make the Qur'an the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the reliever of my worries.

Allahumma inni 'abduka, ibnu 'abdika, ibnu amatik, nasiyati biyadika, madin fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka, sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw anzaltahu fi kitabika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilm il-ghaybi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabee'a qalbi, wa noora sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi.

When to Read

Recite this powerful dua when you feel overwhelmed by financial worries. It's particularly potent when facing unexpected debts, job loss, or any situation where the burden of financial strain feels unbearable. Use it as a constant companion during difficult times, seeking Allah's wisdom and strength to navigate through the crisis.

How to Read

As with all duas, recite with sincerity, conviction, and a firm belief in Allah's power to alleviate your hardship. Raise your hands in supplication if possible, facing the Qiblah. Understand the meaning deeply, reflecting on Allah's attributes of mercy, power, and knowledge. Repeating it multiple times can strengthen your connection and resolve.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive supplication is taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to address deep-seated anxieties and sorrow. By invoking Allah with His perfect names and attributes, and by seeking the Qur'an as a source of comfort and guidance, the reciter asks for profound spiritual and emotional relief. It helps shift the focus from the overwhelming circumstances to the ultimate source of all solutions: Allah. It trains the heart to rely on divine strength rather than succumbing to despair.

Source & Authentication

A man asked the Prophet ﷺ, 'O Messenger of Allah, I have been troubled by worries and anxieties.' The Prophet ﷺ replied, 'Shall I not teach you words that, if you say them, Allah will remove your worries and anxieties, and make your debts easier to bear?' He said, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' The Prophet ﷺ then taught him this dua: 'Allahumma inni 'abduka, ibnu 'abdika, ibnu amatik, nasiyati biyadika, madin fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka, sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw anzaltahu fi kitabika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilm il-ghaybi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabee'a qalbi, wa noora sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi.' (O Allah, indeed I am Your slave, son of Your slave, son of Your female slave. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective. Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed to anyone from Your creation, or taught to anyone from Your knowledge, or sent down in Your Book, or kept exclusively to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen, that You make the Qur'an the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the reliever of my worries.)' (Narrated by Ahmad, and authenticated by Al-Albani as Hasan).
