Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 4563

حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ

Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.

Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel

When to Read

Recite this dua whenever you feel overwhelmed by failures, setbacks, or any situation where you feel utterly unable to cope. It's particularly potent when facing an insurmountable challenge, as the Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said it when he was thrown into the fire, and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions said it when they were told: 'Indeed, people have gathered against you, so fear them.' (Quran 3:173). This shows its power in times of extreme fear and apparent defeat.

How to Read

Recite this powerful statement with full conviction, truly believing that Allah (SWT) is your ultimate support and protector. Say it out loud or silently, with a sincere heart that acknowledges your own limitations and Allah's boundless power. Imagine the weight lifting off your shoulders as you place your trust in Him.

Virtues & Benefits

This declaration is a profound expression of Tawakkul (trust in Allah). When uttered with sincerity, it brings immense peace and strength, warding off despair and anxiety. It reminds us that no matter how great our failures seem, Allah's plan and strength are far greater. The Quran itself speaks to this: 'And whoever relies upon Allah - He is sufficient for him.' (Quran 65:3). The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us that when people gathered against him, this was the most powerful response.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): 'Allah is sufficient for us and He is the best Disposer of affairs.' Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said it when he was thrown into the fire, and Muhammad (peace be upon him) said it when they said: 'Indeed, people have gathered against you, so fear them.' But they (i.e., their faith) only increased them in faith, and they said: 'Allah is sufficient for us and He is the best Disposer of affairs.' Sahih al-Bukhari 4563.
