Sufyan (one of the narrators) said: I met the Prophet ﷺ on the way when I was with a group of people. I said to him: 'O Messenger of Allah, teach me a comprehensive word (of prayer).' He said: 'Say: O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, teach me a comprehensive word (of prayer) in the matter of avoiding evils.' He took hold of my hand and said: 'Say: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the loss of well-being, and from the suddenness of punishment, and from the evil of what Allah has created.' Sufyan then began to emulate the Prophet ﷺ and recite these words: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the loss of well-being, and from the suddenness of punishment, and from the evil of what Allah has created." (Sahih Muslim 2708)
