Dua for Trusting Allah's Provision When Facing Debt

Trust in Allah
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 6369

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from being overwhelmed by debt and from the overpowering of men.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazani, wa a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wa a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal-bukhli, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabatid-dayni wa qahrir-rijali.

When to Read

This powerful dua is particularly relevant when you feel the weight of debt pressing down on you. Recite it frequently, especially after your obligatory prayers (salat), when you wake up in the morning, or at any time you feel overwhelmed by your financial situation and the burden of debt.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a firm belief in Allah's ability to relieve your distress. Focus on the meaning of each phrase, truly seeking Allah's protection. Raising your hands slightly can be part of the supplication, just as we do in prayer before the taslim. Maintain a state of purity (wudu) if possible, and face the Qiblah.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, offers immense protection against some of the most debilitating struggles in life. By seeking refuge in Allah from 'overwhelming debt' (ghalabatid-dayn) and 'the overpowering of men' (qahrir-rijali), you are directly asking Allah to ease your financial burdens and protect you from the humiliation or oppression that can come with inability to pay what is owed. It fosters reliance on Allah, reminding us that He is the ultimate provider and the One who can remove all difficulties.
