Yahya related to me from Malik, from al-Ala ibn Abd ar-Rahman, from his father, from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'A strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than a weak believer, although there is good in both. Be eager for what benefits you, seek help from Allah, and do not give up. And if you are struck by something, do not say, 'If only I had done X, Y, and Z,' but say, 'Qadar Allah wa ma sha'a fa'al' (Allah has decreed, and what He wills He does), for 'if only' opens the door to Shaytan.' Yahya said, 'Malik said, concerning the saying of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, 'Allahumma-kfini bihalalika 'an haramika wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak,' that it is a good invocation.
