Dua for Trusting Allah's Plan When Feeling Unseen or Unappreciated

Trust in Allah
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 4274

حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ

Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs.

Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel

When to Read

Recite this when you feel your efforts are unnoticed, your contributions are unappreciated, or you feel overlooked by others. It's a powerful statement of reliance on Allah when human validation seems absent. Say it after any prayer, before sleeping, or whenever the feeling of being unseen weighs heavily on your heart. It’s particularly potent when facing situations where your intentions are good but the outcome or recognition isn't what you expected.

How to Read

Recite this with a sincere heart, truly believing in Allah's sufficiency. Understand that 'Wakil' means He is the one to whom all matters are committed, the ultimate trustee. Let the words resonate, transferring your worries and expectations from people to your Creator. You can repeat it multiple times, letting the meaning sink in. Accompany this with earnest supplication, asking Allah to reveal the wisdom in your situation and to grant you acceptance and reward, seen or unseen.

Virtues & Benefits

This declaration was famously uttered by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) when he was thrown into the fire, and by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his companions when they were told that the people had gathered against them. The Quran mentions: "Those who were told, 'Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them.' But it [merely] increased them in faith, and they said, 'Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best disposer of affairs.'" (Quran 3:173). Allah then caused them to return with His favor and grace, unharmed, and they followed [His] pleasure. So, this statement, when uttered with true faith, guarantees Allah's support and protection, assuring you that even if the world doesn't see you, the One who matters most does, and He is your ultimate protector and provider.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): 'The last words of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) when he was thrown into the pit were: "Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel" (Allah is sufficient for us and He is the best disposer of affairs). And the last words of Muhammad ﷺ, when he was told: "Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them." But it increased them in faith. They said: "Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs."' (Sahih al-Bukhari 4274)
