O Allah, I ask You for its (this situation/transition's) goodness, and the goodness of its people, and the goodness of whatever it contains. And I seek refuge in You from its evil, and the evil of its people, and the evil of whatever it contains. O Allah, I ask You for pure sustenance and accepted deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka khayraha wa khayra ahliha wa khayra ma fiha, wa a'udhu bika min sharriha wa sharri ahliha wa sharri ma fiha. Allahumma inni as'aluka rizqan tayyiban wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.
When to Read
Recite this dua when you feel overwhelmed by a significant life change, such as approaching retirement, children leaving home (empty nest), a career change, or any major shift that creates uncertainty. How to Read

Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'If any one of you goes to a person of record, he should say: O Allah, I ask You for its goodness and the goodness of what is within it and the goodness of what it was created with, and I seek refuge in You from its evil and the evil of what is within it and the evil of what it was created with.' And if one of you buys a camel, he should take hold of its hump and say the like of that. And if one of you goes to a city or a part of a city, he should say the like of that.' *(Note: The context of the original hadith refers to entering a new dwelling or city. However, the principle of seeking goodness and refuge from evil applies universally to any new situation or transition in life, including major personal life events like retirement or an empty nest, as it involves entering a new 'state' or 'situation'.)*
