O Allah, I ask You for a soul that is at peace with You, that believes in meeting You, and is content with Your decree, and satisfied with Your provision.
Allahumma inni as'aluka nafsan bika mutma'innah, tu'minu biliqa'ika, wa tardha biqada'ika, wa taqna'u bi'ata'ika
When to Read
This is a beautiful supplication to recite at any time, especially when feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or seeking a deeper sense of tranquility. It's particularly fitting during times of uncertainty or when facing challenges, as it directly asks Allah for a heart that finds rest in Him.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, focusing on the meaning of each phrase. Understand that 'nafsan bika mutma'innah' (a soul at peace with You) is the ultimate state of tranquility that comes from true reliance on Allah. Reflect on His decree and His provision as you say it. Make it a habit, perhaps after your obligatory prayers, to cultivate this inner peace.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua directly addresses the root of inner turmoil, which is often a lack of complete trust in Allah. By asking for a soul that is 'mutma'innah' (at rest, tranquil) with Allah, we are seeking the highest form of peace. Such a soul is one that finds security in Allah's presence, is firm in its belief in the Hereafter and the meeting with Allah, and accepts His divine plan without complaint. This state of contentment with Allah's decree and provision is a sign of strong faith (iman) and complete reliance (tawakkul), leading to genuine happiness and freedom from worry.
