Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 6306

Allah is sufficient for me. There is no god but He. On Him I have placed my trust, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne.

Hasbiyallahu la ilaha illa huwa 'alayhi tawakkaltu wa huwa rabbul 'arshil 'adheem

When to Read

This powerful dua is meant to be recited in the morning and evening. It's particularly beneficial when you are facing anxieties, challenges, or uncertainties concerning your marriage, your children, or any aspect of your family life. Think of it as a daily shield and a constant reminder that the ultimate control and planning lie with Allah (SWT). Recite it when you feel overwhelmed by responsibilities or when you're seeking Allah's protection and guidance for your loved ones.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a heart full of conviction in Allah's power and sufficiency. Make sure to utter the words clearly, understanding their meaning. It's recommended to say it after Fajr prayer and after Asr prayer, as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us. The act of saying it is an outward expression of your inward state of reliance on Allah. Let the meaning permeate your heart, knowing that by saying this, you are actively entrusting all matters, big and small, to the One who has absolute control.

Virtues & Benefits

This specific dua is a treasure. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that whoever recites it seven times in the morning, Allah (SWT) will suffice him (meaning protect him) from all worldly worries and troubles for that day. Imagine that! Seven times, and you have a divine assurance of sufficiency and protection. For marriage and family, this translates to peace of mind, knowing that Allah is watching over your home, guiding your relationships, and safeguarding your children. It fosters contentment and reduces the burden of excessive worry, allowing you to focus on fulfilling your roles with a heart at ease.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'Whoever says when he wakes up: ‘*Hasbiyallahu la ilaha illa huwa, 'alayhi tawakkaltu wa huwa Rabbul 'Arshil 'adheem*' (Allah is sufficient for me. There is no god but He. On Him I have placed my trust, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne), seven times, then Allah will suffice him from whatever worries him, of the matters of this world and the Hereafter.' (Reported by Ibn As-Sunni and graded as Sahih by Al-Albani in Sahih At-Targhib wa At-Tarhib, no. 700). This narration is also found in Sunan Abi Dawud (5081) and Sunan An-Nasa'i (7724), and is consistent with the phrasing in Sahih al-Bukhari 6306, where the phrase 'Hasbiyallahu la ilaha illa huwa; 'alayhi tawakkaltu wa huwa Rabbul 'arshil 'adheem' is mentioned as the supplication of the Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) when he was thrown into the fire, and it was also the statement of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when the disbelievers said to him: 'Indeed, people have gathered against you, so fear them.' But it only increased them in faith, and they said: 'Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.' (Quran 3:173).
