I seek refuge for you both in the perfect words of Allah, from every devil and poisonous reptile, and from every evil eye.
U'eedhukumaa bikalimaatillaahit-taammati min kulli shaitanin wa haammah, wa min kulli 'ainin laammah.
When to Read
When you feel a deep concern for your children's future – their well-being, their faith, their safety in a world full of challenges – this dua becomes a powerful anchor. It's particularly poignant when you drop them off at school, tuck them into bed at night, or if they're embarking on a new journey. Any moment you feel that natural parental anxiety creeping in, or simply as a daily practice to entrust them to Allah's care, is a perfect time to recite it. The Prophet ﷺ taught us to be proactive in seeking Allah's protection, making this a sunnah practice for all times of worry or gratitude concerning our little ones.
How to Read
Recite this dua with a heart full of sincerity and absolute conviction in Allah's power to protect. Understand that you are placing your children under the ultimate guardianship of the Creator of the heavens and the earth. If you have a single male child, you would say: *U'eedhuka...* (I seek refuge for you...). For a single female child: *U'eedhuki...* (I seek refuge for you...). For multiple children, you can say *U'eedhukum...* (I seek refuge for you all...). It's a beautiful practice to gently blow over your children after reciting it, or simply make the dua in your heart for them. Remember, this isn't a magic spell; it's an act of worship, a declaration of your **tawakkul** – your complete reliance on Allah, affirming that their true protector is Him alone.
Virtues & Benefits
The profound benefit of this dua lies in several aspects: firstly, it is a direct Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ, who himself used to recite it for his beloved grandsons, Hasan and Husain. Following his practice brings immense blessings and reward. Secondly, it provides parents with an incredible sense of **peace and tranquility**, knowing that they have done their part in seeking Allah's perfect protection for their children from unseen harms – devils, harmful creatures, and the envy of the evil eye. This dua strengthens your **tawakkul** (reliance on Allah), transforming your worries into an act of worship. When you entrust your children to Allah through this supplication, you acknowledge that their well-being and future are ultimately in His Hands, fostering a deeper connection with your Lord and a profound sense of submission to His will.

Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet ﷺ used to seek refuge for Al-Hasan and Al-Husain by saying: **Arabic:** أُعِيذُكُمَا بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ **Translation:** 'I seek refuge for you both in the perfect words of Allah, from every devil and poisonous reptile, and from every evil eye.' He ﷺ then said, 'Your father (Ibrahim) used to seek refuge with these words for Isma'il and Ishaq.' — Sahih al-Bukhari 3371
