O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my property. O Allah, conceal my weaknesses and comfort my fears. O Allah, protect me from before me and from behind me, from my right and from my left, and from above me. And I seek refuge in Your might from being struck from beneath me.
Allahumma inni as'alukal 'afiyata fi dunyaya wa akhirati. Allahumma inni as'alukal 'afwa wal 'afiyata fi dini wa dunyaya wa ahli wa mali. Allahummastur 'awrati wa amin raw'ati. Allahummahfazni min bayni yadayya wa min khalfi wa 'an yamini wa 'an shimali wa min fawqi, wa a'udhu bi'adhimatika an ughtala min tahti.
When to Read
This comprehensive dua can be recited anytime, but it's particularly potent when made after Fajr prayer, as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught its immense benefits. You can also make it during times of worry or when you feel your spouse might be vulnerable to illness or distress.
How to Read
Make this dua with sincere intention and a heartfelt supplication for your spouse. Raise your hands if possible, face the Qiblah, and focus on the meaning of the words. Imagine Allah's protection enveloping your spouse. It's best to say it in Arabic for the full blessing, but the meaning is key, so ensure you understand what you're asking for. You can also incorporate specific supplications related to their health, reciting it while placing your hand on them if they are present and comfortable.
Virtues & Benefits
The word 'Afiyah (العافية) is incredibly broad, encompassing protection from all harm, physical illness, mental distress, and spiritual deficiency. By asking for 'Afiyah, you are essentially asking Allah to safeguard your spouse from everything that could negatively impact their well-being. This includes protection from all forms of sickness, anxieties, and trials. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ described this dua as seeking the 'best' that anyone can be given after faith (Iman), highlighting its profound significance. (Jami' al-Tirmidhi 3502).

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ never missed these supplications when evening came, nor when morning came: 'O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my property. O Allah, conceal my weaknesses and comfort my fears. O Allah, protect me from before me and from behind me, from my right and from my left, and from above me. And I seek refuge in Your might from being struck from beneath me.'
