O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in my religious and worldly affairs and my family and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my private parts and make me secure from anxieties. O Allah, protect me from in front of me and from behind me, and from my right and from my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in Your magnificence from being struck from beneath me.
Allahumma inni as'alukal-'afiyata fid-dunya wal-akhirah. Allahumma inni as'alukal-'afwa wal-'afiyata fi deeni wa dunyaya wa ahli wa mali. Allahumma-stur 'awrati wa amin raw'ati. Allahumma-hfazni min bayni yadayya wa min khalfi, wa 'an yameeni wa 'an shimali, wa min fawqi, wa a'udhu bi-'azamatika an ughtala min tahti.
When to Read
This comprehensive dua is perfect for reciting daily, especially in the morning and evening, to seek Allah's protection for your spouse (and yourself, family, and wealth). It's particularly relevant when you sense your spouse might be exposed to negative influences or during times of increased social interaction.
How to Read
Recite with sincere intention and heartfelt reliance on Allah. Facing the Qiblah isn't strictly necessary for this dua, but maintaining a state of purity (Wudu) is recommended. Raise your hands slightly, as is customary for supplication, and focus on the meaning of each word, visualizing Allah's protective encompassing power.
Virtues & Benefits
This powerful supplication, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his uncle Al-Abbas, is a safeguard against all forms of harm, both seen and unseen. By asking for 'Afiyah (well-being), you are encompassing protection for your spouse's faith, worldly life, and relationships. It's a holistic protection that shields them from negative associations and influences that could steer them away from righteousness.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, teach me something I can ask Allah for.' He said: 'Ask Allah for forgiveness and well-being (Al-'Afiyah).' I stayed for a day, then came to him again and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, teach me something I can ask Allah for.' He said to me: 'O Abbas, O uncle of the Messenger of Allah, ask Allah for well-being (Al-'Afiyah) in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in my religious and worldly affairs and my family and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my private parts and make me secure from anxieties. O Allah, protect me from in front of me and from behind me, and from my right and from my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in Your magnificence from being struck from beneath me.'
