Spouse
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 4403

O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my faults and calm my fears. O Allah, protect me from before me and behind me, from my right and my left, and from above me. I seek refuge in Your Magnificence lest I be consumed from beneath me.

Allahumma inni as'alukal 'afiyata fid-dunya wal-akhirah. Allahumma inni as'alukal 'afwa wal-'afiyata fi dini wa dunyaya wa ahli wa mali. Allahumma-stur 'awrati wa aamin raw'ati. Allahumma-hfadhni min bayni yadayya wa min khalfi, wa 'an yameeni wa 'an shimali, wa min fawqi, wa a'udhu bi-'azamatika an ughtala min tahti.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates a profound request for Allah's comprehensive protection and well-being (Afiyah). By asking for 'Afiyah in religion, worldly affairs, family, and wealth, we are seeking a holistic state of safety and soundness. This includes protection from spiritual corruption, physical harm, financial loss, and social disgrace – all of which can stem from negative influences and bad company. Seeking refuge in Allah's greatness also highlights our utter dependence on Him for safety, recognizing that no harm can reach us except by His decree and that He is the ultimate guardian.
