Sahih HadithSunan Abi Dawud 5085

In the name of Allah. O Allah, grant me well-being in my body. O Allah, grant me well-being in my hearing. O Allah, grant me well-being in my sight. There is no god but You. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. There is no god but You.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-kufri wal-faqr. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'adhab al-qabri, la ilaha illa anta.

When to Read

This powerful dua can be recited regularly, especially in the morning and evening, as it encompasses comprehensive protection. You can make a specific intention for your spouse's health while reciting it, or recite it for yourself and ask Allah to extend His protection to your loved ones.

How to Read

Begin with Bismillah (In the name of Allah). Recite the dua with sincere conviction and a humble heart, focusing on the meaning of each phrase. It is recommended to raise your hands slightly while making dua, especially for personal supplications. Maintaining a state of wudu (ritual purity) is also a sign of respect.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a profound supplication taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ for comprehensive well-being. By asking Allah for 'afiyah (well-being) in one's body, hearing, and sight, we are seeking protection from all physical ailments and sensory impairments. Seeking refuge from disbelief and poverty protects our faith and our worldly sustenance, while seeking refuge from the punishment of the grave prepares us for the Hereafter. When you make this dua for your spouse, you are essentially asking Allah to bestow these immense blessings upon them, safeguarding them from all forms of harm, seen and unseen.
