أَسْتَوْدِعُ اللَّهَ دِينَكَ وَأَمَانَتَكَ وَخَوَاتِيمَ عَمَلِكَ
I entrust to Allah your religion, your trust, and the conclusion of your deeds.
Astawdi'ullaha dīnaka wa amānataka wa khawātīma 'amalika
When to Read
This dua is recited when seeing off a spouse (or any loved one) who is embarking on a journey. It's a beautiful way to acknowledge that ultimately, it is Allah (SWT) who safeguards and guides them through their travels.
How to Read
Recite this heartfelt dua with sincerity as your spouse is about to depart. Focus on the meaning, entrusting them fully to Allah's care. The act itself, along with the sincere intention, is powerful.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates a comprehensive request for protection. By entrusting their 'religion' (din), we ask for Allah's guidance and protection from misguidance. Entrusting their 'trust' (amanah) covers all that they are responsible for and all that is entrusted to them, asking Allah to preserve it. Asking for the 'conclusion of their deeds' (khawātīma 'amalika) is a profound supplication for a good end to their journey, both physically and in terms of their actions, hoping they return in a state pleasing to Allah.
Source & Authentication
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was leaving, he would say: 'Astawdi'ullaha dīnaka wa amānataka wa khawātīma 'amalika.' (I entrust to Allah your religion, your trust, and the conclusion of your deeds.)
