O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I may not need to seek from anyone other than You.
Allahumma akfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.
When to Read
This powerful dua, originally recited by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his uncle Al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) when he asked him for something, is incredibly relevant for our spouses. Recite it during your daily prayers, or at any time you make dua for your partner. It’s particularly apt when you see your spouse facing financial challenges, feeling discontent, or when you simply want to pray for their overall well-being and satisfaction with what Allah has provided.
How to Read
Make this dua with sincerity and conviction, visualizing your spouse receiving Allah's blessings and contentment. It’s best to raise your hands as you would for other duas, facing the Qiblah if possible. Utter the words with a hopeful heart, understanding that Allah is the ultimate provider and the source of true contentment. You can make this dua for your spouse directly, or encourage them to recite it themselves.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a comprehensive supplication for financial well-being and inner peace. By asking Allah to suffice us with His lawful provisions, we shield ourselves from unlawful gains and the potential distress they bring. Asking for richness through His grace (fadl) ensures that our satisfaction comes from Him alone, freeing us from dependence on creation. For a spouse, this translates to contentment with their circumstances, gratitude for what they have, and an avoidance of greed or envy. It fosters a sense of security and reliance solely on Allah, which is the foundation of true joy.

Narrated by Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said to Al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): 'O uncle, should I not give you, should I not bestow upon you, should I not multiply for you, should I not do for you six things? Then he said: Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, captures this from your companion of the grave. Then he said: O Messenger of Allah, these are indeed beautiful words. He (the Prophet) said: Learn them, O Ibn Umm Salamah. And he taught them to Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her). Then he said to Al-Abbas: 'O uncle, should I not give you, should I not bestow upon you, should I not multiply for you, should I not do for you six things? Then he said: Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, captures this from your companion of the grave. (O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I may not need to seek from anyone other than You.) Then he said: 'It is a good saying, O Zaid. And the scholars of the hadith say that it is 'Hasan' (good) and its chain of narration is sound. Some scholars have stated that it is 'Sahih' (authentic). (As reported in Sunan At-Tirmidhi).
