Our Lord, grant us from among our spouses and our offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.
Rabbana hab lana min azwajina wa dhurriyyatina qurrata a'yunin waj'alna lil-muttaqeena imaman
When to Read
This is a beautiful dua to make consistently for your spouse, especially during times of prayer like after *fajr*, before *iftar*, or during the night prayer (*qiyam al-layl*). You can also make it during moments of heartfelt supplication, like when you are feeling particularly concerned about your spouse's spiritual well-being. Making it a regular part of your personal *dhikr* (remembrance of Allah) is also highly recommended.
How to Read
Recite this ayah with sincerity and conviction, focusing on the meaning. Visualize your spouse growing closer to Allah and embodying the best of Islamic character. Raise your hands in supplication as you do with other duas. Believe in the power of Allah's response, as He is Al-Mujeeb (The One Who Responds). Remember that dua is a powerful weapon for the believer, and consistency is key. It's also important that our own actions reflect the teachings we wish for our spouse to adopt, setting a positive example.
Virtues & Benefits
This ayah encapsulates a profound desire: for our families to be a source of joy and comfort, and for us to be leaders in righteousness. By making this dua, we are asking Allah to grant our spouses the ability to find contentment and peace in following His commands. We are also asking for our entire family to be guided and to become beacons of *taqwa* (God-consciousness). Allah promises a beautiful reward for those who are patient and supplicate: "And those who say, 'Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and our offspring the delight of our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.'" (Al-Furqan 25:74). This verse highlights the importance of righteous companionship and the shared journey towards Allah.
