يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ وَعَلَى طَاعَتِكَ

O Turner of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion and Your obedience.

Ya muqalliba al-qulubi, thabbit qalbi 'ala dinika wa 'ala ta'atika.

When to Read

This dua can be recited at any time, but it's particularly potent during the times when supplications are most likely to be answered, such as after obligatory prayers, during the last third of the night, or on Fridays. You can make this a regular part of your supplications for your spouse, especially if you notice them struggling with a specific habit or vice.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a focused heart, directing your supplication to Allah alone. Imagine your spouse's heart being guided and strengthened by Allah to resist temptation and cling to what is good. It's beneficial to raise your hands as you make dua, as is the practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. You can also place your hand on your chest or their chest (if they are present and aware of your dua) while reciting it.

Virtues & Benefits

This powerful dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, directly addresses the core issue of the heart's inclination. Habits and vices often stem from a heart that is not firmly anchored in faith and obedience to Allah. By asking Allah to 'turn the hearts' and keep them 'firm upon Your religion and Your obedience,' we are asking for the most fundamental change. This can lead to a complete transformation, helping your spouse develop a genuine love for good and a strong aversion to bad habits and sins. It acknowledges that true change comes from Allah, the One who controls all hearts.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her): She said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, what is the most common prayer of those who are wedded to you in this world?" He said, "O Turner of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion." This narration is slightly different in wording but carries the same essence of seeking steadfastness in faith. The version used in 'whenToRead' and 'howToRead' is widely known and established for seeking firmness in religion and obedience.
