O Allah, make my husband/wife a teacher of good and a giver of religious verdicts in Your religion, establish him/her upon Your limits, bestow upon him/her Your tranquility, and make him/her among Your righteous servants.
Allahumma-jal zawji / zawjati mu'alliman lil-khayri wa muftiyan fi dinik, wa aqimhu / aqimha 'ala hududik, wa anzil 'alayhi / 'alayha sakeenatak, waj'alhu / ja'alha min 'ibadik as-salihin.
When to Read
This dua can be recited at any time, but it is particularly beneficial to make it regularly during the times when duas are readily answered, such as after prayers, during the last third of the night, or while fasting. You can make it as a part of your personal supplications (duas) when you reflect on your marriage and your shared journey in faith.
How to Read
Recite with sincerity and full conviction. Focus on the meaning of the words, visualizing your spouse embodying these noble qualities. Make this dua in your own words as well, asking Allah to bless your marriage with understanding, adherence to Islamic principles, and a shared pursuit of knowledge. It's also beautiful to share this intention with your spouse and perhaps recite it together.
Virtues & Benefits
Seeking a spouse who is knowledgeable in Islam and a source of good strengthens the foundation of the family. Such a spouse can guide the household, remind of Allah's commands, and foster a nurturing environment for raising children upon Islamic values. The Quran emphasizes the importance of righteous companions and spouses: "And those who say, 'Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and our offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example to the righteous.'" (Al-Furqan 25:74). This dua aims to cultivate that very blessing.
