Spouse
Sahih HadithThis is a dua derived from the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, though not a specific verbatim dua for a spouse's moral compass found in major hadith collections. The principle of asking Allah for guidance for oneself and one's family is well-established.

اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِي وَاهْدِنِي وَاجْعَلْنِي إِمَامَ الْمُتَّقِينَ.

O Allah, guide me and guide [my spouse/family] and make me an example for the righteous.

Allahumma ihdini wa ihdini wa'jalni imama al-muttaqin.

When to Read

This dua can be recited regularly, especially after the obligatory prayers, during the night, or at any time you feel a need to seek Allah's help in cultivating righteousness within your marriage. It's a beautiful supplication to make whenever you reflect on the importance of good character and faith for your partner and yourself.

How to Read

Raise your hands in supplication, facing the Qiblah if possible. Begin with praising Allah and sending salutations upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Recite the dua with sincerity and conviction, believing that Allah is All-Hearing and All-Powerful. You can repeat it multiple times. It's also beneficial to accompany this dua with your own actions that exemplify the traits you wish to see in your spouse.

Virtues & Benefits

Seeking guidance for your spouse and yourself is a profound act of faith and love. It reflects your commitment to building a household that is pleasing to Allah. By asking for a strong moral compass, you are praying for integrity, honesty, and adherence to Islamic principles in your partner's character. This cultivates a harmonious relationship built on mutual respect, trust, and shared spiritual goals. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "The best of you are those who are best to their wives, and I am the best to my wives." (Sunan Ibn Majah 1977, Sahih). Praying for your spouse's uprightness is a way to contribute to that goodness within your own marriage.
