Virtues & Benefits

This powerful dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to Ummu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), acknowledges Allah's absolute control over our hearts. It's a recognition that true change comes from Him. By asking Allah to keep your spouse's heart firm on His deen and obedience, you are seeking His protection for them against deviation and seeking His strength for them to overcome their struggles. It’s an act of love and concern that places the ultimate outcome in Allah’s hands, which is a source of immense strength and peace for the one making the dua.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Ummu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her): She said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what is the most frequent Du'a that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ makes when he is with you?' He said: 'O Turner of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion and Your obedience.' (Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3522. This hadith is graded Hasan Gharib according to At-Tirmidhi). The Prophet ﷺ also made this dua frequently: 'O Allah, the Turner of hearts, turn our hearts towards Your obedience.' (Sahih Muslim 2672).
