بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تُرْبَةُ أَرْضِنَا، بِرِيقَةِ بَعْضِنَا، يُشْفَى سَقِيمُنَا، بِإِذْنِ رَبِّنَا
In the name of Allah, with the soil of our land, mixed with the saliva of some of us, our sick will be healed by the permission of our Lord.
Bismillahi, turbatu ardina, briqati ba'dina, yushfa saqeemunā, bi-idzni Rabbina.
When to Read
This beautiful dua is recited by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when visiting a sick person. It's perfect to say when you or a loved one is unwell, or when visiting someone who is suffering. You can recite it with the intention of seeking Allah's healing and relief for all Muslims experiencing sickness.
How to Read
The Prophet ﷺ would place his hand on the sick person and recite this dua. It's a powerful way to combine physical presence and supplication. Take a pinch of soil from a clean place, perhaps from a potted plant or the earth outside, and mix it with a tiny bit of your saliva (or the sick person's if they are able). Then, with sincere intention and firm belief in Allah's power, place it on the afflicted area, or simply hold your hand over the person while reciting. The key is the earnestness of your supplication and your trust in Allah.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua teaches us a profound lesson in reliance on Allah (Tawakkul) while utilizing the means He has provided. It shows that healing ultimately comes from our Lord, even when we use earthly elements. By following the Prophet's ﷺ practice, we are drawing on a source of immense blessing and connecting with his compassionate approach to the sick. It's a reminder that even the simplest things, when imbued with the name of Allah and sincere supplication, can become a means of cure.

'Bismillahi, turbatu ardina, briqati ba'dina, yushfa saqeemunā, bi-idzni Rabbina.' (In the name of Allah, with the soil of our land, mixed with the saliva of some of us, our sick will be healed by the permission of our Lord). Sahih al-Bukhari 5745, Sahih Muslim 2194.
