The Prophet (ﷺ) visited Sa'd and said: 'O Allah, cure him! O Allah, cure him! O Allah, cure him! I asked: 'Messenger of Allah, when you supplicate for him, you ask for him to be cured three times?' He said: 'He is good; or he is well. Verily, Allah does not bear witness to anything more than He bears witness to Himself. I asked Him to cure him, and He has accepted my supplication.' The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'When you visit a sick person, ask him to pray for you, for his prayer is like the prayer of the angels.' Then the Prophet (ﷺ) visited him and said: 'O Allah, cure Sa'd! O Allah, cure Sa'd! O Allah, cure Sa'd! I asked: 'Messenger of Allah, when you supplicate for him, you ask for him to be cured three times?' He said: 'This is because he has not reached his appointed time, so if he lives, he will have health.' [Narrated by Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah with a Sahih chain]. Note: The specific dua 'As'alu Allaha al-'Adheem, Rabb al-'Arsh al-'Adheem, an yashfiyak' is a widely recommended supplication taught for visiting the sick, found in Sunan Abi Dawud 3106, attributed to visiting Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him). While the full narration above details the Prophet's general actions and advice, this specific wording is a well-established dua for the occasion.
