بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تُرْبَةُ أَرْضِنَا، بِرِيقِ بَعْضِنَا، يُشْفَى سَقِيمُنَا، بِإِذْنِ رَبِّنَا.
In the name of Allah! The soil of our land, mixed with the saliva of some of us, will heal our sick, by the permission of our Lord.
Bismillahi, turbatu ardina, biriqa ba'dina, yushfa saqeemuna, bi idhni Rabbina.
When to Read
This dua is specifically for when a person is experiencing physical sickness, especially when accompanied by fear or anxiety about their condition. It's a comprehensive supplication that acknowledges our reliance on Allah for healing, incorporating a practical, divinely inspired remedy. Recite it when you or someone you know is unwell and feeling overwhelmed by the illness.
How to Read
This hadith describes the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ teaching his companions a method of healing. He would take the soil of the land, put it in a vessel, add some of his saliva (or the saliva of the patient), and then say this dua. The essence is to combine the physical act of seeking a remedy with sincere invocation. So, when reciting, visualize the earth’s purity and Allah’s power to bring about healing. You can recite this dua while gently touching the forehead of the sick person, or by placing a hand on their chest, focusing your intention on seeking Allah's cure. If applying soil and saliva is not practical or feasible, the sincerity of the dua itself, recited with conviction, holds immense power.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua embodies a beautiful balance between taking practical means and placing absolute trust in Allah. It teaches us that healing comes from Him alone, even when we employ earthly remedies. The Prophet's ﷺ action demonstrates that seeking cures is part of our faith, not contrary to it. Reciting this dua can bring immense comfort to the sick by reminding them that they are not alone in their struggle and that Allah, the Most Merciful, is in control of their cure. It helps to alleviate fear and anxiety by focusing the heart on the Divine Healer.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'When one of you complains of pain in his body, he should place his hand on the place where he feels the pain and say: Bismillahi (In the name of Allah) three times, and say: A'udhu billahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa uhadhiru (I seek refuge in Allah and His Power from the evil of what I feel and worry about) seven times. If one of you is sick, he should go to his physician. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, when ill, used to recite some verses, blowing over himself. When he felt very ill, I [Aisha] used to recite them over him and rub his hand with his own hand, seeking its blessing. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Prophet ﷺ used to say when he was sick: In the name of Allah! The soil of our land, mixed with the saliva of some of us, will heal our sick, by the permission of our Lord.
