Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ guaranteed paradise for the one who recites this dua every morning and evening. Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'No servant says this every morning, except that Allah's duty upon him is to grant him safety from all kinds of afflictions until the evening. And no servant says it every evening, except that Allah's duty upon him is to grant him safety from all kinds of afflictions until the morning.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 6306, Sahih Muslim 2709). This protection encompasses physical ailments, including infectious diseases, by Allah's will.

Source & Authentication

Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'He who says: *Bismillahilladhi la yadurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa Huwas-Samee'ul-Aleem* (In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing), three times every morning, will not be afflicted by any sudden calamity until nightfall. And he who says it three times every evening, will not be overtaken by a sudden calamity until morning.' Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) said that Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated this hadith from the Prophet ﷺ. And Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) himself used to narrate it from the Prophet ﷺ. He said: 'I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a man passed by him and he said: O Messenger of Allah, what has happened to Abdullah ibn Unais? They said: He has been stung by a scorpion. Upon this he said: As for Allah, He does not reveal the reward of good-doers to them until they meet Him. As for Abdullah ibn Unais, he said: I entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said: Take your stick. And he narrated the hadith about the killing of the sorcerer. (Later, the narrator said) One day I was in the company of Abdullah ibn Unais when my foot was benumbed. I said: 'Do something for me.' He said: 'What is it that you wish?' I said: 'I wish you would talk to me.' He said: 'I know that your foot has been benumbed.' Then he pressed my finger with his finger and it became well. And he said: 'This is not from me, but from Allah the Almighty.'
