O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove this suffering. Heal, for You are the Healer. There is no healing but Your healing, a healing that leaves no ailment behind.
Allahumma Rabb an-nas, adh-hibil-ba's, ishfia, Anta ash-Shafi, la shifa'a illa shifa'uk, shifa'an la yughadiru saqama.
When to Read
This powerful supplication is perfect for anyone enduring a prolonged illness, or when visiting a loved one who is. It's a timeless plea to Allah, especially potent when the sickness seems stubborn or unyielding, and conventional remedies offer little hope. Recite it with sincere conviction, day or night, whenever the burden of illness weighs heavily.
How to Read
When reciting this dua, it is best to place your hand gently on the part of the body that is ailing. If you are reciting it for someone else, do so with sincerity and a clear intention for their recovery. Face the Qiblah if possible, and begin with a moment of reflection on Allah's power to heal. Repeat the dua seven times if possible, as is the sunnah in some related instances of seeking cure.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua, taught by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself, is a direct request to the Lord of all mankind. It acknowledges that true healing comes only from Allah (Anta ash-Shafi). By seeking 'a healing that leaves no ailment behind,' we are asking for a complete and permanent cure, not just temporary relief. This supplication embodies Tawakkul (reliance on Allah) while actively seeking His help. The act of making dua itself is a form of worship, strengthening our connection with our Creator during times of vulnerability.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to visit the sick, and he would supplicate for them using this dua. 'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was ill, he would recite Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas and blow over himself. When his illness worsened, I used to recite them over him and wipe him with his own hand, seeking its blessings.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 5744). Another narration by 'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) states: 'When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ complained of any ailment, he would pass his hand over it and say: 'Allahumma Rabb an-nas, adh-hibil-ba's, ishfia, Anta ash-Shafi, la shifa'a illa shifa'uk, shifa'an la yughadiru saqama.' (O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove this suffering. Heal, for You are the Healer. There is no healing but Your healing, a healing that leaves no ailment behind.)' (Sahih al-Bukhari 5743, Sahih Muslim 2191).
