Dua for Peace of Mind and Relief from Anxiety

Sickness
Hasan HadithMusnad Ahmad 3553

O Allah, I am Your slave, son of Your slave, son of Your female slave. My forelock is in Your hand. Your decree concerning me is enacted. Your judgment over me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed to anyone from Your creation, or sent down in Your Book, or kept with You in the knowledge of the unseen: I ask that You make the Quran the springtime of my heart, and the light of my chest, and a departure for my sadness, and a remover of my worries.

Allahumma inni 'abduka, ibnu 'abdika, ibnu amatik, nasiyati biyadika, madin fiyya hukkumuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka, sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw anzaltahu fi kitabika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilm il-ghaybi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'No person suffers any anxiety or grief, and then says: O Allah, I am Your slave, son of Your slave, son of Your slave girl. My front is in Your hand, Your judgment on me is executed, Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You which You have named Yourself with, or You have taught to any one of Your creation, or You have revealed in Your Book, or You have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, (I ask You) that You make the Qur'an the life of my heart and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness and the driver away of my anxiety, except that Allah will take away his sadness and grief and replace them for him with joy.' He was asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, should we learn these words?' He replied: 'Yes, indeed! Every person who hears them ought to learn them.' (Sahih)
